Pirates of the Susquehanna

The Havre de Grace militia prepare for impending attack by pirate invaders.

This past weekend, the Susquehanna Museum at the Lockhouse in Havre de Grace, MD played host to a Pirate Invasion.  The museum grounds saw a historical reenactment of a pirate encampment complete with historically accurate attire, equipment and even a ham roasting over an open fire.  I spent a few hours on Saturday checking out the goings on, and even witnessed an attack on the local militia by a band of invading buccaneers.  Here are a few images from the day.  If this isn’t enough pirate on pirate action for you, there’s another event coming up in a few weeks in Rock Hall, MD.  Rock Hall’s Pirates and Wenches Fantasy Weekend (aptly named, as that definitely sounds like a fantasy if I’ve ever heard one) will take place August 8-9 town-wide.

The local militia, having none of it, fire back in kind.

When all was said and done, the pirates took the day, looting and pillaging the bodies of the militia.
