Mariner Photographer to give photo seminar

You know, I’ve been the editor of The Mariner for all of two months now after over eight years away, and one thing hasn’t changed.  Everywhere I go, someone has to ask me, “Do you get to take the pictures of the girls?”  Well, unfortunately, no I don’t.  We allow the professionals to do their job at The Mariner, and that means someone who actually knows how to use their camera when it’s not set to automatic gets to take the really important pics, you know, like women in bikinis.  It’s a burden to give up responsibility for such an important part of our magazine, but I suck it up and take one for the team.  Photographer Terri Shepke of Terilyn Artworks gets the honor, and she does a very fine job of it.

Terri, along with fellow professional photog Leo Heppner, no stranger to swimsuit photos in his own right, are holding a workshop called “On-Location Swimsuit Photoshoot” on July 15 at the Tidewater Marina Boat Store in Havre de Grace, MD.  The pair will give instruction and advice on topics ranging from Digital SLR camera settings, creative composition and lighting techniques to posing, hair and make-up tips and obtaining a rapport with a model.  Anything you ever wanted to know about quality swimsuit photography will be covered during the workshop.

I know what you’re thinking, there are so many better things you could do on a Wednesday evening than taking tasteful pictures of scantily clad women.  Really?  Well, then, by all means have fun mowing the lawn.  Otherwise, anyone interested in learning a few tricks of the professional photography trade can find out more by calling 410-939-6247, 443-421-1662 or emailing leopictureman@verizon.net.  And pick up a copy of The Mariner and check out page 53 to see a quality example of Terri’s recent work
